Tokyo!

After much deliberation, we have decided to start a blog. This is more a family update of sorts, than a discourse on our feelings, thoughts or opinions. We wanted one place where friends and family could check in on us and drop us a note. We have some catching up to do!

For Thanksgiving this year, Jesse and I traveled to Tokyo, Japan. National Instruments sent me there to shoot an event on Thanksgiving day. We had the following three days to explore as much of the city as possible.

Our hotel was located in Sh
injuku (known for its crowded subways and sidewalk scenes in Lost in Translation). We were on the 34th floor and had a great panoramic view of the city. We spent some time looking around - Japan's consumer culture is so fascinating it was easy to get lost in it all. On Saturday we enjoyed a walking tour of old Edo, which sent us through the oldest cemetery of the city while zig-zagging through numerous Buddhist shrines and on Sunday we traveled to Mt. Fuji and Hakone.

We had a great time - from packed subways, bullet trains, black eggs stewed in sulfar to crazy Santa nija outfits. Although the pregnancy kept us from exploring the night life (between the no drinking and exhaustion) it was all for the best. We were able to get up early and really make the most of our time there. We left in awe of this culture (and their octopus balls (the shape) in a creamy sauce, smothered in mayo.)
Tokyo was so crazy but comfortable at the same time. We look forward to our next trip to Japan.

So, was Jesse the constant object of beard envy?

Glad you're back. Think the Tokyo subways were crowded? Wait until you get 9 more rugrats living with ya!

Hey, Merry Christmas, New Years and Happy Holidays!

(This version with the correct spelling is much better!) :o)

I don't think the they could see high enough to really inspect the beard. If they did, surely there would of been a vicious fight on the subway!
