Una turned one on June 9th and we celebrated with family and friends at a nearby pool. Both Jesse and I forgot cameras but lucky for us, Anna took some pictures so the big day was documented. The day before the party, Una's eyes slowly started to seal shut with a ton of green and yellow goo. What I thought was just smeared boogers in her eyes turned out to be conjunctivitis! Yuck! Good thing Jesse isn't squeamish around eye puss. As soon as her eyes healed, she came down with a cold (thanks daycare!) so for the last couple of weeks we've been battling one issue after another - along with dietary and sleep changes.
All that being said, the past year has been so crazy, exciting, exhausting, scary, fun, and at times just plain overwhelming, that I couldn't possible sum it up in words (I'll ask Jesse to write a post - he might be able to). I do know as of today, we have this beautiful little creature that continues to unfold before our eyes. This process has been the greatest thing I've ever been part of. I couldn't be more proud that she's my daughter and I'm her mother. We're a day by day family so I can only imagine what the next year will be like. With a new baby on the way, it's sure to be twice as crazy as this past one!
